Battle of the Dancers competition now open
Aspiring young dancers are being invited to show off their best moves for the chance to be crowned the region’s Dance Battle Champion as part of the Dance @ Nikki Webster’s Battle of the Dancers, supported by KIDsize Living.
As part of the competition, which was launched last week, participants aged under 18 can upload a 30-second video of themselves showcasing their best dance moves for the chance to win a prize package valued at over $5,000.
Entries can be uploaded via Instagram or Facebook along with the hashtag #sydbattle, with participants required to tag the Dance @ Nikki Webster Facebook or Instagram account.
The top four entrants with the most public votes will be invited to compete in a live dance battle-off at the Dance @ Nikki Webster 2016 Open Day on January 30, 2016, where a Dance Battle Champion will be decided via crowd vote.
“Dance @ Nikki Webster has been operating within the Inner West for almost 10 years now and we’ve loved every minute of it,” said Nikki Webster, principal of Dance @ Nikki Webster, who co-owns the studio with her brother Scott.
“Our KIDsize Living’s Battle of Dancers is a fun way for us to spread the joy of dance over the holiday period and encourages dancers to show off their skills with pride,” added Webster. “Videos can only be 30 seconds long, so we’re looking for creativity and energy above all else. Whether it’s jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, tap, cheerleading or freestyle, we’re happy to accept videos showcasing all genres of dance.”
The winner will receive a huge prize package, including becoming the face of Capezio by Ballet Emporium for the month of March and a $100 voucher, a professional photoshoot with Simone’s Photography, dance shoes from Dance Needs, a $200 voucher to spend at PW Dance and Sportswear, a juice package from Eastcoast Beverages, and vouchers from Anything Dance and JZ Leotardz.
In addition, they’ll receive either free tuition with Webster’s studio or entry into the Talent Development Certificate Program with Dance @ Nikki Webster, where they will have an opportunity to earn their Certificate I or II in Dance.
“A prize package like this is every dancer’s dream, so we hope to see a number of great entries come through from all ages. We’d love to see a wide range of Inner West locals participate, and it goes without saying that both boys and girls are welcome,” said Webster.
The KIDsize Living’s Battle of the Dancers competition is now open, with entries closing on Sunday, January 17, 2016. The competition is proudly sponsored by KIDsize Living Inner West and hosted by Dance @ Nikki Webster.
