Australia’s inaugural Creative Childhoods Summit to shape safer futures in dance and performing arts
Dance Arts Alliance is proud to present the inaugural Creative Childhoods Summit, a landmark national event bringing together leaders from child protection, government, education, health, and the performing arts to shape the future of child safety, healthy practice, and professional standards in dance and performing arts education.
The Summit will be officially opened by Australia’s National Children’s Commissioner, Deb Tsorbaris. As the country’s leading advocate for the rights, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people, Commissioner Tsorbaris’s participation highlights the growing recognition of dance and performing arts education as one of Australia’s largest child-facing sectors, engaging more than one million children and young people each year.
Hosted by Dance Arts Alliance at the iconic Sydney Dance Company on Friday 14 August from 9:00am to 5:00pm, the one-day Summit is designed for everyone committed to creating safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environments for children and young people in the arts.
The Creative Childhoods Summit is proudly supported by Dance Informa, Victorian Dance Festival (VDF), Bloch Dancewear, Dancesurance, MDM, the Australian Dance Education Awards (ADEA), The Embrace Collective, the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN), and the National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse. Together, these organisations share a strong commitment to building a safer, healthier, and stronger future for dance and performing arts education in Australia.
A highlight of the day will be the national launch of the KidsPACE Framework, a new initiative developed by Dance Arts Alliance to support child-centred, evidence-informed, and healthy dance education practices.
Whether you are a dance studio owner, performing arts educator, school leader, arts organisation representative, competition organiser, or child safety professional, the Summit offers practical strategies, expert insights, and valuable networking opportunities with others dedicated to strengthening standards across the sector.
