Australian Dance Theatre seeks dancers to join its Company Artist ensemble

Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) is calling for applications from talented dancers and artists to join its full-time ensemble of Company Artists, based on Kaurna Yerta in Adelaide.

Company Artists sit at the very core of ADT, playing a central role in every part of the creative process. They collaborate on the development of new works, perform in productions, and contribute to the company’s Learning and Community programs through workshops, masterclasses, and outreach activities. ADT places a strong emphasis on care, psychological safety, and collective creativity, treating its Company Artists as key creative collaborators whose input and artistry are invaluable to the company’s continued success and innovation in contemporary dance.

This is a full-time position based in Adelaide. Successful applicants will join ADT’s core ensemble on Kaurna Yerta, working in a supportive environment that values collaboration across disciplines and a deep connection to the creative process.

ADT will hold auditions in three major cities this August:

  • Sydney (Gadigal) on 8–9 August at Critical Path
  • Adelaide (Kaurna) on 22–23 August at The Odeon
  • Melbourne/Naarm (Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri) on 29–30 August at Chunky Move

Each audition day will feature a group class, the opportunity to learn sections of ADT’s choreographic repertoire, and creative tasks designed to showcase each artist’s unique voice and collaborative potential. ADT aims to create a welcoming and supportive audition environment for all participants.

Applications for the auditions are now open and will close on 3 July. All applicants will be notified of the outcome by 17 July.

Interested artists should submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for their preferred audition city via the official ADT auditions page.

Applications will be assessed by Artistic Director Daniel Riley and Associate Artistic Director Brianna Kell. The auditions themselves will be led by Daniel Riley, Brianna Kell, and Company Artist Zoe Wozniak.

ADT is known for its bold, boundary-pushing contemporary dance works that tour nationally and internationally. Joining the company offers artists the chance to be part of a tight-knit, creative ensemble committed to excellence, innovation, and community engagement in one of Australia’s most vibrant dance companies.

Artists interested in this opportunity are encouraged to apply before the 3 July deadline. ADT looks forward to meeting passionate and skilled dancers ready to contribute to its dynamic ensemble on Kaurna Yerta.
