Ausdance ACT offers Move Up for teachers

Move Up Professional Program by Ausdance ACTAusdance ACT is calling all teachers! The organisation is hosting its Summer Holiday Move Up Professional Learning Workshop Program on January 20-21 at Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres in Braddon. The program offers professional learning workshops, support and resources so teachers can confidently and effectively deliver the dance elements of the National Curriculum.

While aimed at upper primary, high school and college teachers, the Move Up program is still relevant for any dance instructor in the education system, as well as studio teachers.

Choreographer Sarah Boulter will present a full-day contemporary dance workshop during Move Up. Boulter became a household name when her choreography was featured in So You Think You Can Dance Australia. A co-director of Ev & Bow, she has worked all over the world with incredible names such as Mia Michaels, Celine Dion, Meryl Tankard and Franco Dragone. This will be her first time coming to teach with Ausdance ACT in Canberra.

In addition to Boulter, Phly Crew and Daniel Dolling will present style-specific workshops. Phly Crew will present a full-day hip-hop workshop specifically for primary school teachers that will focus on inclusivity and boys in dance. Crew Founders James Barry (“JB”) and Neale Whittaker founded this unique hip-hop crew when performing together at Luna Park Sydney in 2009. Since those early days, Phly Crew has risen to new heights and continues to blow audiences away all across the globe. Whittaker will also present a half-day commercial styles workshop.

Dolling, a longtime jazz instructor who has worked on Grease the Arena Spectacular and the new Love Boat series for Aaron Spelling Productions, will lead a half-day musical theatre workshop.
