Arts Centre Melbourne presents Aakash Odedra and Lewis Major’s Little Murmur

The UK’s award-winning Aakash Odedra Company, known to Melbourne audiences for Samsara (Asia TOPA 2020), returns with a stirring new dance-theatre work that blends technology and movement.

Inspired by award-winning choreographer and dancer Aakash Odedra’s personal experience with dyslexia, Little Murmur invites you to see the world through a different lens, woven with dance, humour, and animated sequences.

Diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age, Aakash found school very challenging. Defined by his learning difficulties, not his abilities, dance became his mode of expression. Combining visual design and technology with dance and humour, Little Murmur explores the warped and exaggerated realities of living in a world you struggle to process. Little Murmur is a stunning visual treat for young audiences and their families.

Based on Aakash Odedra’s hugely moving show Murmur, this is an honest and heart felt conversation about the trials and tribulations of living with dyslexia. Watch bodies and words fly like flocks of birds, a murmuration, a little murmur. Little Murmur unfolds a moving narrative in just 40 minutes, as two dancers intimately craft a unique world that expands your perceptions and understanding.

Odedra’s work draws deeply on his training in bharatanatyam and kathak, as well as his unique immersion with renowned Bollywood choreographer Shiamak Davar. Little Murmur is a stunning visual journey, revealing a story of universal hope and quiet triumph.
