Arts Centre Melbourne and Morning Melodies present En Pointe – The Australian Ballet School
The Australian Ballet School and Arts Centre Melbourne Morning Melodies present En Pointe on 24 May in Hamer Hall at 11 am and 1:30 pm.
The Australian Ballet School’s annual performance is now a tradition amongst Morning Melodies audiences, a treat to look forward to each year. In a showcase of works by talented students, this performance celebrates the art of ballet from the sophisticated to the sublime.
Audiences will be thrilled by a wonderful repertoire filled with the energy, dedication and refined skills of the School’s young dancers.
This program features Teeter, a brand new work choregraphed by teacher and resident choreographer Simon Dow. The work focuses on the emotional and human aspects of the refugee experience, without reference to nationality or politics. This is a dynamic and unique piece of work and will be performed by 10 senior male students.
The second work is Waltz of Joy – a joyful piece created by classical teacher Irina Konstantinova. The piece was developed by a younger group of female and male students in late 2021 to celebrate the end of the challenging and unforgettable year. It is a celebration of all that the students achieved despite the challenges, showcasing the students’ technique with exciting allegro, turns and pas de deux work.
Running time of En Pointe by The Australian Ballet School is 60 minutes. Tickets begin at $16 and can be purchased here.
