Are you DRILL's next Artistic Director?

Are you DRILL’s next Artistic Director?

DRILL is beginning the process of a national call out for their next Artistic Director. They have enjoyed their time with Isabella Stone immensely, but believe in the positive value of change and are excited to meet their next AD!

DRILL is the primary provider of contemporary youth dance engagement opportunities for young people in southern Tasmania; and is run by a small team consisting of the full-time Artistic Director, part-time General Manager, casual choreographers, tutors, designers, technicians and project staff who are engaged as required, and overseen by a board of directors.

The Artistic Director is responsible for program and project planning and their implementation; development of partnerships, liaison, and is the main bridge between the organisation and creative communities locally and nationally.

A significant percentage of the work is creative, including collaborative work in the studio with young people ages 9 – 25, other choreographers and artists, leading the direction of performance works. The AD will also lead a significant dance-in-schools program, and regularly teach classes and workshops for the Company members and across southern Tasmania. Care and mentoring of young people are inherent and important within this role.

The position is for a full-time contract to the end of 2023, with the option to become an ongoing position, subject to securing funding. Commencing March 2023. Working hours are flexible within operational requirements. The appointee is required to work evenings and weekends the majority of the year.

DRILL invites persons who have exceptional capacity but may not meet all selection criteria to apply and who would be appointed at a lower level with some support, or applicants suggesting alternative modes of employment.
