ADT at OzAsia 2024
Under the scorching sun of the Queensland desert, two skeletons are found entangled in a forever embrace. One is a Cantonese man who came to Australia during the gold rush. The other is a Tagalaka woman.
Presented in association with Kurinji, ADT’s Two Blood is a major new cross-disciplinary dance work that excavates a forgotten part of our history while unraveling a story of love and belonging across borders, time, and culture.
Created by Daniel Riley, S.Shakthidharan and Jasmin Sheppard alongside an incredible creative team, Two Blood will continue development throughout the 2024 OzAsia Festival.
Read on to discover how you can gain insight into the work and hear from the visionary artists at its core.
Professional and independent dancers are invited into the world of Two Blood for a free masterclass at The Odeon on 6 November. Places are limited. Click here to reserve your spot.
Led by Artistic Director Daniel Riley and Artistic Associate Brianna Kell, the masterclass will see artists interrogate the cross-disciplinary processes underpinning this new work as the company navigates a unique fusion of text, movement, and ceremony.
Audiences are also invited into the rehearsal room to hear from the lead artists of Two Blood as part of OzAsia Festival’s Talks program.
Daniel Riley, S.Shakthidharan and Jasmin Sheppard will take audiences through the genesis of the work, while examining the many strands of artistry that they are combining throughout the development process.
This is an opportunity to hear from three artists at the top of their game as they continue to embark on a thrilling creative journey with some of the nation’s finest creatives.
The talk will take place from 5pm, this evening. Tickets are free but bookings are essential. Book here.
Large in ambition and scale, the work sees the continued evolution of Australian Dance Theatre’s output as they push the boundaries of their repertoire by bringing new artists, forms and ideas into the fold.
Made in collaboration with international creatives and our ensemble of remarkable Company Artists, Two Blood is shaping up to be a transformative work for ADT.
