23rd Australasian Energetiks Scholarships

ATOD Australasian Energetiks ScholarshipsAustralian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD) is preparing for one of its biggest weekends on the organisation’s calendar – the ATOD Australasian Energetiks Scholarships in Melbourne. Set for this weekend on July 17-19, this year will mark the event’s 23rd anniversary.

Over the past two months, state scholarships have been held across the country to find the top four dancers in each state in classical ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop in various age groups. These place getters will represent their respective states at this event being held at the Clocktower Centre in Moonee Ponds. Dancers from across the country will present a range of solos in classical ballet, tap, jazz, national, contemporary and hip-hop.

This prestigious event includes the David Atkins and Justine Summers Award. The panel for the David Atkins Award includes Trish Squires and Shane Preston and the panel for the Justine Summers Award includes Justine Summers, Jane Moore and Kyle Davey.

ATOD President Karen Malek said, “The teachers and students and their families will flock to Victoria and are very excited to be representing their respective states for these scholarships. We are very grateful to Energetiks for their continued support in the dance industry and in particular in making these monetary awards possible.”

Bursaries will also be presented to full-time dance students to assist them with ongoing training for their future in the industry. The prestigious Avril Binzer Achievement Award will also be presented.

“We would like to thank our many supporters and sponsors who have made these bursaries and awards possible, including Energetiks, Show Works and Simplex Insurance Solutions,” Malek said.
