WAAPA to hold auditions across the country

Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts full time dance courseThe Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), which operates as a part of Edith Cowan University in Mount Lawley, recently welcomed visitors to its annual Open Day event on Sunday, August 14. It showcased its wide range of performing arts courses and state-of-the-art facilities for prospective students.

 

WAAPA offers full-time courses in Aboriginal Theatre, Acting, Arts Management, Costume, Dance, Design, Lighting, Music, Music Theatre, Performing Arts, Props and Scenery, Screen Performance, Sound, and Stage Management. At Open Day, prospective dance students were able to sit in on movement classes from the Music Theatre program as well as an open rehearsal for the new dance show Hatch.

 

Now that Open Day has come and gone, a select group of WAAPA faculty members are preparing to head out for the Undergraduate Audition Tour. Auditions will be held in: Melbourne on Monday, September 19; Brisbane on Tuesday, September 20; Canberra on Wednesday, September 21; Adelaide on Thursday, September 22; Sydney on Friday, September 23; Darwin on Saturday, October 15; and Perth on Thursday and Friday, October 20 and 21.

 

The audition dates for WAAPA’s Honours and Masters (LINK) courses in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne will be held in October/November. For all audition requirements, refer to waapa.ecu.edu.au.

 

Applications must be submitted directly to WAAPA by September 30. Admission is based on a comprehensive audition and interview.
