WAAPA holds audition for 2017 Propel course

Audition for 2017 Propel courseThe Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) will soon hold an audition for entry to its 2017 Propel dance course.

Propel is designed for teenage dancers wanting to ultimately audition for and pursue full-time training in the WAAPA Dance undergraduate program. Primarily focused on students in Year 11 and 12, the course builds expertise and skills in both ballet and contemporary dance and is taught by highly qualified WAAPA staff.

This part-time course is essentially a more advanced after-school evening program for teens aspiring to be professional dancers and choreographers. Additional benefits for participants include access to WAAPA’s facilities and free entry to all WAAPA Dance seasons.

Dancers must be at least 15 years old for Propel. If accepted, they’ll dance one year (two full semesters). Semester 1 runs Monday, 27 February – Friday, 9 June 2017. Semester 2 runs Monday, 24 July – Friday, 17 November 2017. Classes are scheduled for Monday and Friday evenings from 5:30 – 8:15 pm. The total tuition for one year is $1,200.

Entry into the Propel course is audition based. Interested dancers should plan to be at WAAPA’s Building 1 at Edith Cowan University’s Mount Lawley Campus on Thursday, 1 December. The audition will run from 10 am to 1 pm. The fee is $30.
