Steps on Broadway offers IISP for dancers from abroad

International Independent Study Program at StepsSteps on Broadway in New York City offers many course options for Aussie and Kiwi dancers looking to train in the Big Apple. The professional training programs include the International Independent Study Program (IISP), the Steps Conservatory Program, the Steps’ Steele Pilates Teacher Certification Program and the Summer Study NYC Program.

The main full-time course option for international dancers is Steps’ IISP, which provides participants a great degree of flexibility in their schedule. Dancers create their own calendar of 48 classes per month, choosing from over 40 daily classes in ballet, pointe, floor barre, contemporary, modern, theatre dance, jazz, hip-hop, tap, world dance, Pilates, yoga, Gryokinesis and Zumba.

Students learn from various internationally recognized and established dance practitioners. Guest instructors, choreographers, directors and performers are regularly added to the roster as well, further enhancing the scope of the dancers’ experience and training.

To enroll in IISP, dancers must be age 18 or older. They can register for three, six or 12 months, with semesters beginning on the first Monday of every month. Completed applications must be received at least two months prior to their desired enrollment date.

On the other hand, Steps Conservatory and Summer Study Programs are by audition only. The Pilates Certification Program requires a dance component.
