In exclusive performances, Britain’s flagship performing arts company will present Woolf Works, a three-act ballet based on the writings of Virginia Woolf (June 29-July 2), and The Winter’s Tale, a full-length ballet based on Shakespeare’s revered story (July 5-9).

The Olivier award-winning Woolf Works is choreographed by in-demand visionary Wayne McGregor, a resident choreographer with the London company.

The Winter’s Tale, on the other hand, is choreographed by the ensemble’s eminent Artistic Associate Christopher Wheeldon. The production, set to a score by Joby Talbot, features costumes and designs by Bob Crowley.

The last time The Royal Ballet visited Brisbane was in 2002. Its 2017 visit will be part of QPAC’s International Series. The Royal Ballet’s Director Kevin O’Hare reportedly called it a “privilege” to be invited to join the QPAC line-up.

He said, “It will be 15 years since we were last in Australia and everyone in the company is looking forward to coming to Brisbane with two very exciting works.”

In addition, there is a chance that Brisbane audiences will have the opportunity to see two Australian principal dancers in starring roles – Steven McRae (who once trained under Alegria Dance Studios’ Hilary Kaplan) and Alexander Campbell (who formerly trained at Academy Ballet, Sydney.)

Casting for these performances hasn’t been finalised yet. So stay tuned! For more information, visit qpac.com.au. Tickets are now on sale.
