One Body, One Career IntensiveFrom July 2-13, 2018, the annual One Body, One Career Intensive (OBOC) will take place in Melbourne, Australia. Working for 10 full days with Countertechnique Founder and Chunky Move Artistic Director Anouk van Dijk, Master Teacher Nina Wollny and Alexander Technique expert Tom Koch, the OBOC offers a wealth of information to both first time and returning participants.

During this sixth Australian edition, first time participants will gain a detailed introduction to the distinct elements and methodology that form Countertechnique, while returning participants will have the opportunity to deepen and expand their understanding. Through theory, physical practice, discourse and workshops, participants will gain a set of practical tools that they will be able to draw from and apply in their daily dance practice and through performance seasons.

This year’s intensive will offer daily Countertechnique classes and Practical Tools sessions. Nina Wollny will teach her much sought-after partnering workshop alongside her dynamic Anatomy sessions and Tom Koch will build on his specific approach of Alexander Technique for dancers in plenary and individual sessions. Anouk van Dijk will share her love for space, improvisation and the creative process. In addition, participants will learn and perform recent Chunky Move repertoire. The intensive will conclude with a shared presentation of the various workshops at the Chunky Move Studios.

Every OBOC has approximately 45 participants. All previous editions have drawn a mix of participants from all over the world, including North America, Asia, Europe, South America, the Middle East, Russia, and of course Australia and New Zealand. The OBOC is not only the ultimate opportunity to immerse yourself in Countertechnique, but also an amazing opportunity to meet dancers and choreographers from around the world and build an international network of peers.

For those who wish to further their practice, Countertechnique classes will run following the Intensive as part of Chunky Move's regular professional dance class program, taught by Melbourne-based Countertechnique teachers. In addition, volunteer dancers are needed for the biennial Countertechnique Teachers Training (July 18–29), which will also take place in the Chunky Move Studios.

The full cost for the intensive is $900 AUD. Note that an Early Bird price of $870 AUD is available to successful candidates who have submitted their application by Friday, December 15.

Returning participants (2014 – 2017 editions) and tertiary dance students can register at the Early Bird price until the closing date, which is January 14.
