Regional Chamber Ballet in its premier season

Danse Bacchanale in Victoria AustraliaThe Regional Chamber Ballet, a unique ensemble of professional musicians and dancers from regional Victoria, will present its premier season on Friday and Saturday, October 9 and 10, at the Bendigo Bank Theatre.

The program, Danse Bacchanale, will take a journey through folk and dance music, including works by De Falla, Bartok, Piazzolla and Katz-Chernin, with original choreography by Bendigo’s Christopher Ead. Collaborating artistically for the first time with his wife, violinist Stephanie Ead, this dynamic duo has sourced exciting performers and has developed an intriguing program that will inspire viewers to tango, pirouette and leap.

Dancer Madeline Magetti will perform with Christopher as violinist Stephanie leads pianist Sarah Cossey, cellist Annette Wellman and recorder Ryan Williams.

As founders of the Regional Chamber Ballet, Stephanie and Christopher, along with co-leader Annette Eldridge, understand the difficulties when accessing the arts in regional areas. Having all grown up outside the big city centres, each experienced a lack of live performance options. Regional residents have to travel a long distance to experience live instrumental and dance collaboration. This is why they are passionate about bringing events to regional and rural areas.

Performers from Regional Chamber Ballet have moved away from home as young as age 14 to access the education and experience required to become the professional performers they are today. This ensemble hopes to address this issue, while also dispelling the notion that music merely accompanies dance, as this group believes it actually informs and inspires it.
