QL2 Dance’s 2017 Quantum Leap Auditions

Quantum Leap presents This Poisoned SeaQL2 Dance in Canberra will soon hold its annual auditions for its Quantum Leap ensemble, a troupe for young dancers aged 15-26 with a creative mind and significant dance or gymnastics experience. Auditions are set for 12 February at QL2 Studio, Gorman Arts Centre.

Selected dancers will work on QL2 Dance’s major project for the year – a triple bill entitled This Poisoned Sea. This program will see them collaborate with three choreographers – West Australian artist Claudia Alessi, who has an extensive background in physical theatre; and two QL2 alumni: Eliza Sanders and Jack Ziesing (formerly of Expressions Dance Company).

This group of artists will work under the leadership of QL2 Artistic Director Ruth Osborne, with Pip Buining serving as Dramaturg. International visitors will also join the ensemble for the final weeks of the project.

Rehearsals for This Poisoned Sea will be on Sundays from March to June, as well as on two weeks in April and most of July — school holidays for most students.

The actual production will be premiered at Canberra Playhouse on 25–29 July. Students will need to take time off school this week.
