Melbourne City Ballet presents ‘Echo’ program

Echo coming to Chapel off Chapel in May 2017Immediately after presenting Don Quixote in mid-March, Melbourne City Ballet went straight into rehearsals for its contemporary season Echo, which opens this week, running from May 4–7 at Chapel off Chapel.

Melbourne City Ballet’s annual contemporary season offers a platform for emerging choreographers to present fresh works. This mixed bill will be no different, with the premiere of Catalyst by Artistic Director Michael Pappalardo, as well as new works by company dancers Brendan Bradshaw and Tynan Wood.

According to the company, audiences can expect the entire Echo program to feature dynamic performances as the dancers command the stage and bring the stunning and thoughtful choreographic works to life.

Following this program, Melbourne City Ballet will prepare to tour Carmen to Japan on May 20. In June, the troupe will hold its Annual Gala, a time to celebrate with the dancers and artistic staff through an exclusive silent auction.

Come July the company will be touring again – both throughout Victorian theatres with its new children’s ballet Once Upon A Time and regionally in NSW, VIC, QLD and NT with A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
