MBC to premiere ‘Being & Time’ in March 2017

Being & Time featuring Alexander Bryce and Marsha PeckerMelbourne Ballet Company (MBC) will launch its 2017 Season with the world premiere of its triple bill Being & Time. Set for The Concourse Theatre, it will be presented on Saturday, March 11 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, March 12 at 2 pm.

The contemporary ballet programme will feature internationally acclaimed Italian ballerina Mara Galeazzi, a principal artist at The Royal Ballet. It has been created by three leading choreographers: Tim Podesta, previously with South African Ballet Theatre and now managing the project Projection Dance; Lucas Jervies, of The Australian Ballet, Scapino Ballet and Sydney Dance Company; and MBC Director and Resident Choreographer Simon Hoy, known for his work with Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Carolina Ballet and Ballet Mainz in Germany.

The ballets will delve into the belief that philosophical thinking begins with and reflects its human subjects. This existential understanding of being is grounded in time.

Founded in 2007, MBC is a not-for-profit organisation whose vision is to present new work, specifically modernized ballets by highly trained classical dancers. Since its launch, MBC has premiered over 35 original works.
