Dancehouse offers Room to Move opportunity

Dancehouse offers Room to Move programDancehouse, a premier centre for independent dance in Melbourne, offers ROOM TO MOVE, a non-curated program giving choreographers a chance to present work-in-progress in front of a live audience.

ROOM TO MOVE invites applications from choreographers for informal showcases that are presented on the last Friday of each month, from June to November. Applications for the June and July presentations are now closed, however dance makers can apply for August and September showcases by July 17 and October and November showcases by September 18.

ROOM TO MOVE aims to offer “critical examination frames and tools” for the choreographer, to develop “critical understanding and appreciation of dance for audiences” and to generate more critical dialogue.

Artists are invited to present 20-40 minutes of new or pre-existing material in studio conditions in front of a live audience. Beforehand Dancehouse provides 10 hours in the space for artists. For more information, visit www.dancehouse.com.au.

The next two work-in-progress showings are scheduled for June 30 and July 28 for those who wish to attend.
