Ballet Theatre of Queensland’s ‘Cinderella’

Cinderella by Ballet Theatre of QueenslandThis year, the Ballet Theatre of Queensland (BTQ) celebrates 80 years as the state’s premier youth dance company. To kick off this exciting anniversary season, it will present its adaptation of the Charles Perrault fairytale Cinderella to Brisbane audiences on January 19-21 at QPAC’s Concert Hall.

Choreographed by Artistic Director Timothy Brown, BTQ’s production of Cinderella tells the classic tale of a young girl named Cinderella who’s under the demands of her wicked stepmother and stepsisters and who wonders if she will ever be free to find true love.

The romantic and timeless production will be brought to life by 58 of Queensland’s finest young dancers, aged from 10 to 18 years. They hail from 34 dance schools as far afield as Hervey Bay and Kingscliff.

BTQ’s production will also feature sets designed by Bill Haycock and costumes by Carmel Wenck.
