Australia takes the lead with Big Dance 2018

Australian Big Dance EventThis year will see Australia take the lead role in the biennial Big Dance event, a global participatory dance festival. Launched by the Mayor of London in 2006, it’s a celebration of dance for all ages and all levels of ability.

Ausdance VIC and Ausdance NSW are officially presenting the event, hosting gatherings in Sydney, Melbourne and regional areas in addition to encouraging and supporting events in other states and territories and in New Zealand. This is a noteworthy privilege since Big Dance has been solely presented in the U.K. for more than 10 years. The first Australian offshoot event took place in July 2014 at Sydney Opera House.

With online tutorials and free workshops, Big Dance will give dancers the opportunity to learn choreography by Frances Rings and Craig Bary.

Events will be held around the country on International Dance Day (Sunday, April 29) and throughout 2018. The official 2018 Big Dance choreography will be shared soon.
